seizures and having first baby

Tue, 05/10/2005 - 08:10

Hello everyone!  I have been non-stop curious to know if there is anyone other than me that wants or had a first baby with seizures?  I'm sure there is, but exactly how hard is or was it?  I am almost 24 and started having seizures at only 19 out of the blue.  I don't get them often, knock on wood.  Well, often meaning 2-4 or so a month.  But, I have a great boyfriend who I have been with for 7 years, and just little things have been going through my head for awhile.  My friends are having them, and I get jealous of course.  But very happy for them.  I just know for a fact if I didn't have seizures I would have had a baby already.  If not very soon.  It just runs through my mothers and grandmothers genes that very motherly passion.  I've always been good with kids...you know...bluh bluh bluh.  But, I don't know how hard it actually would be having my own.  I know also for a fact that they are not easy to take care of.  I'm just curious, with seizures, sometimes, and my very much needed sleep, and all, how would it be done?  Or am I over exagerating it?  I just really want a baby but at the same time don't want to make a stupid decision.  Please let me know anything.  It would be greatly appreciated, really.  Thank you again, and take care,

It is possible to have children. I have four. I did it on my own. Worked the first year until I had my first one. I had grand mals but not during caring the baby, just complex partials. Soon as I gave birth I had my last grand mal on the table. I only have complex partials. You learn to adjust what you can and not do. I carried all my children on my left arm. For I had auras on my right. I was afraid that I would dropped them. One time a baby slide down my left side while walking down the steps. Never dropped them. I slept alot, when I was working I went to bed very early. When my kids napped I laid down also.Make sure you take folic acid, for the baby it is so important and a multi-vitamin.Best of luckhttp://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa
