Throat choking/facial pain/hearing loss?

Wed, 08/31/2005 - 21:48
Hey all,I know I have posted this before..but I can't find it anywhere LOLAs some of you may already know, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy on 08/03/05 due to a condition I have called X-linked Periventricular Heterotopia, and after a few shots at some pretty high doses of meds (Dilantin & Tegretol)....the doctor finally put me on Tegretol CR 200mg per day, and I have had NO SEIZURES since. I rarely have side effects...but I am not sure if these ARE side effects...or "mini seizures"/aura's....being blocked by the meds...Here are a few examples... - Throat closing involuntarily - making me want to swallow - Sudden hearing loss that comes back after a few mins - a numbness/pain in my lips - Jerks (myoclonic?) - I seem to be ok with this, as it doesn't bother me or alter my consciousness and only happens when I am just getting to sleep. The numbness/pain in my lips occurred today. When I was blowdrying my hair. The last two times I had my seizures, I was blowdrying my hair, however the seizures were each a month apart...which also leads me to believe they might be hormonal....counting down the days...as my period will be here in a few days....and I had the throat choking feelings the other night...all so close to my cycle....ANY COMMENTS?I see my neuro tomorrow and will be telling him this.
