I just recently started on Zonegran (400 mg so far) for myoclonic jerks, but my neuro says it will also control my simple partials and grand mals. So far so good, although I am still taking dilantin- we will eventually wean off of that. But I haven't had too many unpleasant side effects- it does make me pretty tired, though. Does anyone else struggle with this? Is there anything you can do to help with this? Heather

I'm -- have been since last Sept. 06 also had grand-mal. It's been working great; actually it's probably the best med I've been on. I thought it was going to make me lose weight, but it didn't. I really needed to lose weight. -- I'm having no side effects like others I was on (keppra, tompomax, neurontin, tegetrol and dilantin) so zonegrane is by far the best. good luck on it
