Seizure Dog Help

Sun, 04/10/2016 - 17:45
Hello, I am a freshman in college and I have had epilepsy for the past three years. I have never really managed to get control of my epilepsy. The longest I have gone without seizing is two months. Recently, I have been looking into getting a service dog. I think it would help me be more independent and lesss stressed. The problem is I am a nursing major. I do not want the dog to go into clinicals or work with me. How would you feel if you had a nurse with her own service dog? The organization then said how I do not want a service dog-which I do in all other aspects of my life. Do you have any advice? What have you done in college with uncontrolled seizures? Thanks, Emily

most trained service dogs can

most trained service dogs can cost a lot of coin..!  almost three years ago i picked up two german shepherd pups( lana & scout .)  they have never received any profesional training, just me working with them on the basic commands ect.. both pups have witnessed 7-9 tonic-clonic seizures through out the three year span usually 3-6 months apart.  however this march i have had three tonic-clonic seizures, on the 7th,22nd,and 23rd.  on the 22 i woke up that morning to lana whining in my face and acting concerned(witch i never wake up to her in my face or whining.)less than ten min later i had a seizure that ended in 7 stitches on my forehead.  i like to think that the dog's make it possible for a seizure to be predicted with the chance for damage control.
