Choice of Clinic - Anywhere

Sat, 01/22/2005 - 12:15
Hi!If the choice of the clinic is anywhere in the world, I have to recommend the clinic where I receive treatment. That is Scripps Green Hospital: Neurology and Brain Research Center, in San Diego, California, USA. Telephone no. is (858) 455-9100 (I'm not certain of the country code.)My doctor is Dr. Maung Aung, who strikes me as a genius. Team him up with Dr. Pocetta and you can't go wrong. By the way, Scripps treated Mother Theresa when she was in the USA for a heart condition. They have state-of-the-art equipment, a superb professional, caring staff, and (as a plus) outstanding facilities in a beautiful location on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.gsness

Hi Belinda!Sorry you've been in and out so much. And the fact is that no matter where you go, there are no guarantees for epilepsy or anything else.I just mentioned Scripps because the person who started this board mentioned a child from Russia with E whose father wanted to take the child "anywhere" they could get the best treatment; so I threw in my two cents. But you know, even though I have improved dramatically, I am still not seizure free. I am down to about 1 CP every 2 - 3 weeks. A T-C every month or two. They can't cure everything; so I'll just take the best I can get. But I would be going to the nearest available clinic too if I didn't live near Scripps. I can't afford to travel the world for treatment either!(On the other hand, there might be some golfers out there who would give away their life savings to be treated at Scripps... right between Scripps and the Pacific Ocean is the Torrey Pines Golf Course where they hold the annual Buick Invitational).Blessings!gsness

Gsness,After,Having brainsurgery my 2nd VNS.I've been on Topamax 3 times Felbatol twice.Tegretol more 30 years. It wpould be nice be seizure free after a life time on meds. It's a dream and that's all for me.But I can have a dream anyway. There aren't anymore drugs after 18 that I can try for my seizures.I can't get into a drug trial till April than been off Fewlbabtol 6 months. The drug never came through 2 yrs ago that was for intractable sz's.So I just don't get my hopes up.Belinda
