Financial Dental Assistance

I don't remember what post I read someone needs dental financial assistance and hope whoever it was see's this thread. I did find a link offering the same. I know nothing about this program so it's up to the individual to investigate on their own. I'm on Dilantin, a known gum/tooth destroyer and the dental care I need is beyond my financial reach. I've had gum/tooth destruction even though I've scrupulously tried to avoid it, plus I've hit my teeth so much dropping, whapping my mouth, I have knocked teeth out, cracked, chipped, you name it = big bucks. I get Medicare as a benefit of my disability but it doesn't pay for dental. I'm going to investigate this too but I hesitate to recommend to anyone any resource, would prefer people investigate for themselves and see if it meets their needs. Below is the link however for potential money to help with dental care. I have no idea what the requirements are for qualifying, the total benefits, nothing - but this link. BUT I've also found no other help either. The only other suggestion I have is to go to a dental school where your dental work is done by students under the guidance of a full fledged dental professor, which I have done, but found it a little "unnerving", however free to cheap. Frankly I was treated like "poor white trash" as was every other client that was there, maybe it was just this school, I hope. Still I got a very cheap root canal. The one I went to was on a sliding scale. Scroll down, and you'll see the link. I hope this works. If not please post and I'll try again.http://www.drugbuyers.com/freeboard/links.php?op=List_Links&cat_id=5&parent_id=0&title=Othergain.Gretchen

Here are some ideas from a case manager at a community clinic: For eyeglasses and vision exams contact your local or state Lions club and ask how to access their Sight and Hearing program. For dental help: Aside from checking dental schools, check for a Federally Qualified Health Center, Community Clinic, Volunteers in Medicine Clinic, or free clinic in your area and ask about access to cheap or free dental care. Many dental offices use CareCredit, but avoid using CareCredit (I call them "ScareCredit")unless you research their terms and conditions *very carefully* and are the type of person who has the means and habits of paying their bills off in full *before* they are due. I don't think many dental offices actually understand how ScareCredit works, it is just an easy answer to give to uninsured people. Good luck, and let your congrescritter know what you think of our current healthcare system. That is the only way anything will change. Luther Von Ruckerson

Some clinics are for low-income people, some are for homeless…

Some only serve local community residents…

Some are specific to HIV treatment.

Google "freemedicalcamps.com/index" to find the Free Medical Clinic or Free Dental Clinic in your state, nearest you…   Phylis Feiner Johnson   www.epilepsytalk.com
