Either zipping or Zzzzzzz!

Mon, 02/14/2005 - 23:39
I have TLE and have had for 30 years. I seem to have two speeds only. Sleeping or sleepy 24/7 or zipping around wide eyed and bushy tailed requiring 2 to 3 hours sleep in a 24 hour period if at all. I can do better with the sleeping part because I can make myself stay awake for a while, sleep a couple hours ,get up, etc. and then go to bed early. But the zipping drives me insane. Over the years my Doctors have put me on different Rx's that switches me straight from zipping to zombie. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if so were they able to find anything to help?

Hi,I actually have more energy now than I have had in approx 1 year. My family says my eyes are quite a bit clearer and I can finally carry on an intellegent conversation. That is something my sister missed having with me for the last 6 months.I have had my meds changed a couple times. That may be the reason, although the Neuro said that the combo I am on should make me sleepy. Maybe my steroid is counteracting the side effect?Anyway I am currently taking Carbamazepine (200 mg 2x a day), Zonegran 100 mg 2 caps at night, Nortriptyline 50 mg at night, doxycycline 100 mg 2x a day, Prednisone 10mg 3x a day, felodipine ER 10mg 1 x a day and Dyazide 37.5 mg/25 mg 1 cap per day. Quite the cocktail...No wonder my system is crazy. LOLBut seriously...I have known people with the bi-polar disorder and I know what a toll it takes on them and their families. I personally have lost 2 loved ones. My son and his father both commited suicide. I fell in love with my ex during one of his highs and learned all about the lows when I was just a teenager. I watched him over the years with the extremes of no sleep and then crashing for days on end. Needless to say I watched my son for any signs as best I could. Unfortunately I missed them.So to those that have Bi-polar and are succedding with their lives...Congratulations and please keep up the good work. To those that are struggling...please hang in there...it will get better! There are people that care, and if anyone wants to talk...my name is Dayna

Thank you both for answering. They are going to try something new on me tomorrow. Here's to hope!
