Surviving with Epilepsy on Lamictal

Sat, 03/21/2020 - 01:28
Hey all, I'm in a tough situation. I recently got out of a 5 year relationship with a girl who I thought was the one. The reason behind that is she understood my illness. She drove me places when I had seizures and we didn't stay out late nor did we drink/party. However, it has come to my attention this last week that that's not what she wants in a relationship and that she wants to party and be crazy with other guys. It broke my heart her saying this because I literally can't change my lifestyle to fit what she wants. I'm really struggling coping with epilepsy now. She was my best friend who understood me and now she's gone. I titled this discussion "Dating/Surviving" because I feel like that's all I'm doing is surviving. My friends go out and drink and stay out while I'm left being a home body sober. Now I lost my one friend that I thought would always be there for me. Sorry for the rant but I'm lost. I'm on Lamictal and I want to live my life the best I can. I just feel trapped. How am I supposed to date if I cant drink and stay out late? My doctor really doesn't help that's why I took to this forum. I'm in desperate need of help because this is not the way I thought things would turn out.

First, I want to say if she can't accept you 100% then she's not the one. You'll find someone better! Second, your situation is my worst nightmare and why I'm single. We all want someone who's gonna be committed 100% into the relationship. I've been an epileptic patient for 15+ yrs and have flaws that I need my partner to understand. I've made up my mind to stay single because I know I understand myself best. You will get through this.

Stay on lamictal if it's working as I found it excellent when I focus on taking right time of day.
