I am an 18yr old girl diagnosed with epilepsy for only a few months, I’m currently on topamax 100mg daily. Since before I’ve even been diagnosed, right after my first seizure, I started to have these “naps”. I’m fully rested getting a full night of sleep but if I find my self sitting for too long I get uncontrollably tired and no matter how hard I try I cannot stay awake. I’m only sleep for a few minutes not long at all, but when i wake up I have these terrible migraine that I can not do anything about.

I used to have severe

I used to have severe migraines after my generalized seizures but I never did have them after short naps.  Maybe those naps include seizures that you're not aware of.  But maybe the Topamax is producing tiredness and headaches as a side effect.  I've never tried Topamax but I've been trying a new drug, Briviact, which left me with short periods of extreme drowsiness.  The doctor has since tapered the dose and this has helped.  Have you ever made note of when these events occur?  Before asking doc to change the dose you might try adjusting the timing of when you take the Topamax just to see if this alters the timing of the drowsiness and migraines.  Keep track of these adjustments and report them to the doctor.  I do not change the dose I take without first consulting the doctor, but I have changed the timing just to get answers on what works best.  I have not had a doctor indicate they thought I was doing something wrong by doing my "experiments", but it might me nice for you to consult the doc first.Mike

Hey there,If these naps

Hey there,If these naps happen on a daily basis, an EEG might be a straightforward way of figuring out if they're seizures, and if yes, what kind. But have you mentioned any of this to your doctor? A general good tip (epilepsy life hack) is to track neurological symptoms and the stuff going on before/when they happen, and ask your doctor these questions.Good luck!B
