My 14yr old son just diagnosed with epilepsy

Hello I need to know if anyone on here has had their child diagnosed with benign rolandic epilepsy at 14yrs of age??? We were just diagnosed today at children's, ambulance drove him there after his seizure last night, but from what I've read about this syndrome and what doctors told me, usually children suffer from this between 3-13yrs of age with its peek around 8-9yrs of age and usually grow out of it by 16. It's January and he turned 14 in October, i know it's not typical for his age to have this Kate of a diagnosis but has anyone has had their child diagnosed this old??? Please may info as I've never seen anything like his violent seizure and I want to make sure he got the right diagnosis. We had an EEG today and that's when they said that, he said having a MRI within the week to rule anything else out. But his came on within 15-20mins of falling asleep. I'm terrified to sleep now I have him sleeping with me and dad sleeping on couch because he actually stopped breathing for a few seconds (I think) felt like forever. Please nah info??

Epilepsy really spans a variety of situations - so while the situation sounds less common, the diagnosis could be accurate. If you read the descriptions in the web pages, you might find info to see if your child’s situation fits or what you might ask more about to understand how on target the diagnosis is (can’t post links in replies so you’ll have to cut&paste or highlight&right click to get to the pages)....https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/types-epilepsy-syndromes/benign-rolandic-epilepsyhttps://www.epilepsydiagnosis.org/syndrome/ects-overview.html
