Keppra 500mg

Mon, 01/30/2006 - 21:14
Hello; I would like to know if there are any online users that have used or know the drug Keppra for epilepsy. If so, have you heard of or wittinessed the side effect of hair loss? I have seen it written up somewhere in the merck manual and on some web sites. I have been on keppra for 2 years and it was just when the neurologist raised the dosage from 1500mg/day to 3000mg/day that it started by me losing my left eyebrow then it went through the scalp and facial hair? if anyone has information about this , please let me know? thanks

Hi, I was just diagnosed with epelipsy. I'm Laurie, 19 and had only one grand mal on Tuesday. I have had countless petie mal ones, but never knew what they were. Anyways I am now on 500 mg of Keppra..Levetiracetam, twice a day. Do men have more of a hair loss chance, or could it go either way? I was tired, but most upbeat the entire day and the higher the doseage do you think the more side effects there will be? Cause I'm feeling fine now, but a little worried about it maybe worsening..

Hi laurie, do u read or sit infront of computer a lot?. I assume you do,because you said, you have countless petit mal seizures. Petit mal seizures is cost by an abnormal of a brain function. what it does is that the brain will go into shock like the electrical system when is over worked...which in your case is what happens when you either read a lot, watch TV to close or sit to close to a computer for along period of time. the hair loss is not really a big deal because is not one of the side effect, hair loss is usually comes from cancer.

I think you are doing fine with the dosage because you said you are feeling fine, unless your seizure is not yet completely control with the dosage you are taking now.anyway let me know if you still have more seizures with the dosage you are taking now.
