Trileptal.. is it too new for everyone?? Haven't read it from anyone!

Oxcarbazepine.. FDA app. in 2000, a baby in it's own right. I did a drug study with oxcarbamazepine in 1996, and 4 years later (ignoring meds those years) I find the approved version, Trileptal. I was so excited, cuz I didn't have any side effects during that study, and with Tegratol I had no reasoning skills, and I'm allergic to Dilantin! Trileptal is wonderful for me, and I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried this one!!??

HipChic I've noticed that if I take a dose late, my mood disintegrates. I get pretty irritated, or downright depressed. That's if I'm over 3 hrs. late. There's been a few times when I had monetary issues and I had to miss a few weeks, and even coming off slowly made my mood more uptight. I've never had any major mood disorders, but I do feel more stable emotionally than I ever have in my life. I was always a drama queen, but since 2001, I've learned to relax and let things go. It's very liberating. As to the sodium levels, this is the first I've herad of that. I don't think any docs I've had have pointed this out to me. Should I add more salt to my diet, or sea salt? Eat more salty foods?? I already eat quite a bit, but there are some days when I just don't feel up to par.

No not necessarily. The low sodium only occurs for some people. It may not even affect you at all. So dont worry unless it happens to you. Doctors dont seem to tell you everything about every drug. I had to find it out myself. Or we just have to be aware everytime we try a new med. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
