loss of strength from med side-effects

Mon, 11/27/2017 - 11:37
Hello friends. My name is Tyler, I'm 25 and I have had epilepsy since I was 12. I am currently taking a combination of Keppra and Lamictal, but a lot of it. I cant remember the exact dosage, but I know its two 500 mg keppra morning and night, and one and a half lamictal morning and night. I feel lazy and week throughout the day all the time. I dont really feel sleepy, but just weak. I work three jobs and go to school, which is a lot, but I at each one I just feel weak. I have been catching myself just not doing much like going outside anymore. Also, I feel that all of these anti-convulsion are making me so lethargic its interfering with my sex life. I am sorry that sounds so strange, but I am married and we want to have a kid. I am very hardworking, so that may be the problem, but i also assume that all of the side effects have a lot to do with it. Again, sorry if that is kind of weird/

Tyler, you are 25, your brain

Tyler, you are 25, your brain is still urging you to do what a 25 year old guy wants to do, this is a very good thing. The Keppra alone is enough to make me sleepy within approx. 2 hours, and I eventually just have to give in to sleep. I am 50, and have been a physical/vigorous guy my whole life. These meds do apparently deplete the amount of B12 efficacy in the human body. This is unfortunate but true. Every case is different, and causes vary, but above all medication can work but understand it is only designed to stop seizures. So, I did some research about eating foods to enhance the body's efficient usage of this vitamin. Seafood (espescially salmon), red meat (however you like it), and butter/ dairy, yes I said butter. This is not a diet, this is simply what my research has revealed. I also avoid a lot of social activity but I know its because I fear a seizure in public. There will be many who don't understand, let them. Best of power to you young man!!!!!!!!!
