Had laser ablation surgery over Thanksgiving

Sun, 01/03/2016 - 23:33
I don't know if this is going to help anyone but I had EMU Phase 2 then a laser ablation on my right temporal lobe during the week of Thanksgiving. So far it has been successful but it's only been a month now. I walked out of the hospital on my own feet 2 days after the ablation. Have had VERY MINOR headaches twice since then but I don't get headaches often anyway. Based on how I am so far I would recommend it if your neurosurgeon offers it. Feel free to ask questions.

Is there any really good information about laser ablation out there? I found the following and it explains it well but it also explains it in terminology that I don't want to share with my mother (i.e. using the word "burning")http://neuro.memorialhermann.org/conditions-treatments/laser-ablation-for-epilepsy/She had some questions like:How long had neurosurgeons been doing this? Is this still something new (i.e. experimental)? How successful are they at this (i.e. how often is there unintentional brain damage?)?What are the trade-offs?Who does this well? (Anyone had any experience with Virginia Commonwealth University?)Thank you!
