Hormones causing Seizures

Mon, 04/03/2006 - 12:26
I have been having hormone problems for a short time now. Stress and anxiety have become a big factor. I have been using progesterone and it has helped. But things seemed to change now. Any little thing I have to do is a big issue, and is very stressful and will end up with a seizure. Has anyone did something else to help the seizures that are coming from hormone problems? I have tried to increase the meds, and that does nothing for me. I have used Ativan on occasions. Is there anything else that can be done? thanks Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

Teri I believe my thyroid is not correct and that is why I am having the problems. I asked my doctor to check my thyroid. For I have alot of the symptoms. My hair is falling out like crazy, anxiety, heart palpitations. I will bet it is my thyroid meds need to be changed. Doctors are not going to supply the progesterone, for many dont believe in it. My doctor wants to give me a pill, and I have refused it. I get progesterone from a compound pharmacist that my OBGYN has agreed with the cream. take care Lisa

Hi Lisa, Lots of things can trigger mood changes. Mood changes can be a side effect of the progesterone in some people, while imbalance of hormones may also contribute to mood changes. Then again, stress and anxiety can contribute to both hormonal and mood changes. Talk to doctor prescribing the meds for options for mood as well as seizures. Take care Epi_help

Sorry the other message repeated a number of times, it just would not take. I have not had problems with progesterone before, it has been a god sent. I am suppose to see my doctor in a couple of weeks. Even though she dont know what the options are unless I am going backwards and going to try my old meds. Not sure if any will work, since it is hormone related. thanks lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
