No tumour per MRI but had seizure during EEG

Thu, 09/14/2017 - 15:39
I am 46 years old and I just started having seizures two months ago. I was driving when I had the first. Then had another within 24 hours and another within 24 hours of that. I was put on Depakote right away as a nurse and doctor witnessed the second and third one. Since then I have had a few more. My doctor ordered a EEG and a MRI. The MRI came back with no tumours and I am pretty sure I had a seizure during the last part of the EEG. I am still awaiting results but is this something that can happen or is it all in my head? Am I going crazy?

I appreciate your help and kindness. I did receive the EEG and I'll and the doctor said it was normal. Due to the fact that the accident caused a fatality I am under a lot of scrutiny. I am not taking these and I am feeling extremely trapped and scared. I know that I have had them. When I got my ankle or elbow I pass out, remembering nothing, but even so it wasn't like that. And after the accident and I was in jail, others witnessed a seizure. The nurses took my vitals, etc and my eyes were completely dialated and blood pressure was through the roof. (I am usually 120/60) One of the other prisoners even said she stabbed me with a makeshift needle and said I didn't respond. But now the doctor called it idiosyncratic, which I feel is like saying I am faking.I need to know what is happening to me and I also need to know if I am faking it why am I still taking 1000 mg of depakote, at 116 pounds, 5'6".....If any one can help please please help me.

from your post it sounded like your diagnosis was straightforward but your follow up indicates it is more complicated. seek out an epileptologist to get a second opinion with. ask what other testing could eliminate other possible conditions and what other EEGs/tests would be better to uncover seizures if there. why one EEG might not be enough. it takes around three well chosen EEGs to get something on EEG for patients with epilepsy, an a smaller percentage have normal EEGs but do have epilepsy. EEGs are not a test where one always gets a straightforward diagnosis, only in a few generalized situations is it super straightforward.
