hi i'm 23yrs old and have been epileptic since i was 12
I feel like an absolute idiot. I was sexually assaulted when i was 12 yrs old and until now haven't been able to trust a guy enough to go out.
I have no sex drive at all and i was wondering if anyone knows if medication (AED) like Keppra can cause this, or could it be the epilepsy itself.
I'm worried about having sex etc incase it will cause me more problems with my epilepsy
can anyone give me some advice plz

I got epilepsy at 12 too. I think your decreased sex drive may be a result of the sexual abuse &/or worry as opposed to the medicaton. I also take Keppra. Sexual side effects are not listed under common, not-so-common, or rare side effects of Keppra.
You mentioned trust issues, as well as worry concerning increased seizure activity as a result of sex. I can't address your trust issues and I am sorry for what happened to you as a kid. I can tell you that you can have a sex life. Also, there are things you can do to increase your sex drive to help make this more feasible. But, it may take some work on your part and may be a process, (i.e. if there is an underlying issue that you need to resolve). On the other hand, you may have simply been immobilized (so to speak) by worry. You can overcome that by knowing sex doesn't make epilepsy worse.

Kim, I too am very sorry that that happened to you and can empathize with you on many realms. I have been on Keppra for about 3 months now and my sex drive has completely plummeted. I just started having seizures about 5 months ago so I don't know if it's the meds or the seizures either and was wondering the same thing?!
