vision

Has anyone ever lost their vision temporaly? I've never lost it completely but it's been blurry like I was drunk or something and i would put on my parent's glasses. It would help a little but i don't need glasses. The eye doctor i went to see said so. So I was wondering if anyone thinks that it could be connected to the meds I was on at the time.

Whilst never losing vision as such I would often suffer about an hour or so of severe double vision the effect of which was as you say to make it seem as though you are very drunk. It would come on about half an hour after taking my meds but only ever in the evening, but then again I was working nights at the time so I guess it was my morning. I learnt to function at work whilst feeling this way and no one ever knew but everything felt incredibly slowed down as if the world was moving in slow motion as well. This was most frequent whilst taking phenobarbital and tegretol.

I do when I have a particular type of Simple Partial. I lose my vision. It blackens into tunnel vision, and what is left of my vision is blurry. It usually only lasts a second or two, but for me that is the type of simple partial that will usually progress into a complex partial under the right circumstances.

Hi rosegirl. You don't say what medication you were taking at the time, or what work you do. The replies have told you medications can, and do throw up weird things. You know, medicines can pretty much interfere with the process of a non seizing memory, as well as sight. Because, they do. Because these episodes with your vision were not occurring when you put on your parent's glasses, and you are wondering about your vision...The vision problem could be medicine related, or from the work you do, and the strain on your eyes from that, or both. I'm not a doctor, I can't say. What I can say is it sounds unpleasant what happened to you, and don't forget lack of sleep can throw up some pretty weird things to. It is important to obtain a correct diagnosis to avoid being treated with medication unnecessarily. Unfortunately, sometimes this does happen. In these cases, treatment with medication usually demonstrates no reduction in the events mainly because these events are not seizures. http://www.epilepsy.org.au/epilepsy_explained4.asp That is certainly true, and documented, as you would know probably from your own reading and experience.… What I know from my own reading and experience is this. If you are sure the cause is not work related, I'm sure the first person in the world to help with this would be your pharmacist, who could check out the effects the medication you were prescribed was not responsible. If you don't want to go that route, then ask your doctor. Either way, either one, always the best way to proceed. Hang in there, and keep us updated. Cat.
