Seizure dreams or seizures???

Fri, 09/12/2008 - 12:04

Hi all,

I had surgry 4 weeks ago today but have been experinceing what I think are seizure dreams but am unsure. So I need your opinions. The first one I had was weird I woke up not feeling like I had a seizure the night before but remembering the "dream" like I had a seizure. The second one my husband saw and heard which kinda scares me and he said I did the same noise and "posed" just not as extreme as normal. However, I had no postictal and my husband woke me strait up and then I got up to use the bathroom and was able to walk. Soooo???? What is this?? Is it a dream cause I saw a surgeon earlier that day and we talked about it? Is the power of suggestion that strong? Help!!!

Have you ever had nocturnal seizures? I think I had my first one a few nights ago. I felt awake the whole time but was sleeping when the feelings started. I felt as if, even though I was aware the whole time, I could not shake myself out of the "trance" I was in. Later on after waking up, I had a headache like I do after a seizure.

Hope you are doing okay after having surgery :)

With having the dream like seizures...I used to have those all the time actually before my surgery.  I would have a dream that I was having one and then in the morning my husband would tell me that he woke up to hearing my lips smacking (one of my signs for seizures, complex partials before my surgery).  I would never wake up with the same headache or tiredness that I would have when I would a seizure when I was awake.   I think that if you feel like you are having a seizure or dreaming that you are having one than you are probably having one.  Have you actually brought it up your neurologist??  Have they changed your medicine at all?

Hey Sass.......Its Scott.    After my surgery I had seizures  in my sleep......although not as bad as before surgery or nearly as often.

I thought I was dreaming that I was having a seizure, and when I would wake up the next day my wife would tell me that I actually did have a seizure. But you have to bear one thing in mind sass..... the cuting that they do while performing the surgery can create scar tissue itself, which can cause seizures until it heals up. So dont loose hope yet.

Take care of yourself. Hopefully well get the chance to chat again soon.          Scott.
