At the Epilepsy Foundation, one of our primary goals is to provide accessible, current information about epilepsy/seizure disorders to individuals with epilepsy, parents, family members and friends. We also provide information about epilepsy to professionals in the community through our in-service training programs. Our professionally trained staff is available to answer questions about epilepsy and its related concerns. The services and programs we provide include Advocacy, Educational Programs, Service Coordination/Case Management, and Support Groups.

We have been offering programs and services to people with epilepsy for over forty years. Our information and support services have helped thousands of New Yorkers of all ages with epilepsy and other neurological impairments. Our wide variety of school education and professional in-service training programs are individually tailored to children, students of all ages, adults and their families and workplaces. We serve 22 counties in Northeastern New York including Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Dutchess, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Montgomery, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Sullivan, Ulster, Warren, and Washington.

Programs & Resources

Education and First Aid Training

Our Professional In-service Education Program teaches professionals how to recognize and provide appropriate first aid for seizures. It dispels myths surrounding epilepsy in order to mitigate the fear and misunderstanding that often surrounds this condition and that may have negative social, emotional, and professional consequences for individuals with epilepsy. This is provided for the workplace, school personnel, students, childcare personnel, first responders, caring for seniors, and for public education.

Service Coordination/Case Management

This program allow us to provide service coordination to individuals and families dealing with epilepsy. Service Coordination can assist consumers in accessing the following services: Advocacy, Assistance with school planning, Benefits/Entitlements, Early Intervention, Educational Support, Epilepsy Education, Family Reimbursement, Family Support Services, Home and Community based services - Waiver (HCBS), IEP Development, Individual Support Services, Intake/Assessment, Legal Assistance, Medical Services, Recreational Programs, Referral, Residential/Housing, Respite, Summer Camp, Support Groups, Therapeutic Needs, Transportation, and Vocational Assistance.

Information and Referral

One of our primary goals is to provide accessible, current information about epilepsy/seizure disorders to individuals, parents, family members and friends. Our professionally trained staff is available to answer questions about epilepsy and its related concerns. We can also provide referrals to physicians, medical centers, legal counsels and various community resources.

Support Groups

You are NEVER alone. We offer support groups for people living with epilepsy. If you live in the 22 counties served by our affiliate, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunity to engage with others in a safe and supportive environment. We offer a Women's Support Group, Men's Support Group, Parent Support Group, and Studio E Art Therapy.


Our professionally trained staff can provide individual counseling, couples counseling, and family counseling services to help navigate the hardships endured from diagnosis to ongoing support.

Epilepsy Care, Cure, and Awareness Campaign

This fund was created to support programs that care for individuals living with epilepsy throughout northeastern New York and fund important epilepsy research. With your support, we will fund epilepsy research, provide direct services to people with epilepsy, provide medication to those unable to afford it, send children with epilepsy to summer camp, provide college scholarships to graduating seniors, connect families with epilepsy to other families, and educate about epilepsy in schools, hospitals, nursing homes and businesses.
