Can Drop Seizures suddenly appear?
Sat, 07/02/2005 - 21:37Am 35 , have been dealing with seizures since teen years. Recently switched from Tegrotol to Trileptal a couple weeks ago. Had an episode while stenuously working out...passed out suddenly and fractured my orbital. Didn't bite my tongue or feel the urge to go to the bathroom prior to the episode...can it be possible I had a drop seizure for the first time?

Hi Maggie,
I know that feeling of being able to hear but not able to move or respond. Ack! That is frustrating!
I am glad you have a supportive family. My family is just learning too. I am the only person in my Entire family with seizures.

Hi Maggie,
Yes your seizures can change "out of the blue" . It has happened to some of us. Even if you are on meds, that doesn't mean your brain is going to cooperate.
When I first got dx'd as having a "seizure disorder", I just had complex partials...or so I thought. I had no idea that my aura's were simple partials. So I thought cool, partials only...then the jerks hit. OK Doc says, two meds are not suppossed to work together, and took me off of one. OK jerks slowed down. Had the VEEG and eveerything looked OK, so I got removed off all meds. Well guess what... they are ALL back now, including the jerks, and they brought friends...The "who yanked my legs out from under me" drops. Not as often as before, or even as severe as before, but still...kinda gets to you. You think come on...pick one and stay that way!
I swear I hate to fall down. I used to do that in High School, my legs just give way and on my butt(or my side) I go. Really embarrassing when you are a teenager. I was a cheerleader and one night my legs gave way and down I went...in front of an entire football stadium. Thankfully It looked like I just lost my footing.
OK I will stop whining now. I know that most days I am doing pretty awesome. And have lived a pretty great life.
