Can Drop Seizures suddenly appear?

Sat, 07/02/2005 - 21:37

Am 35 , have been dealing with seizures since teen years.  Recently switched from Tegrotol to Trileptal a couple weeks ago.  Had an episode while stenuously working out...passed out suddenly and fractured my orbital.  Didn't bite my tongue or feel the urge to go to the bathroom prior to the episode...can it be possible I had a drop seizure for the first time?

Hello, I had LTL surgery In 2002 and after the surgery I lost my auras and yes I started with Atonic/drop szs out of nowhere.I am on very high doses of meds(4 AED's) and my doc had me on a diet to try and help.I don't have as many but I don't get warnings so It can happen.Seizures can and will change on you so becareful and I suggest not to have diet things. God Bless, Monica

Because of the age, it can be hormal related but I don think so.

But being on trileptal I have complex partial seizures. I have grand mal once in awhile. Trileptal can cause a decrease in sodium. I dont use too much sodium and I try to add it.

I dont have the decrease anymore because the dose was lowered now.

Make sure you have gatorade in the house. When I see I am getting many auras then I know a grand mal is coming.

hope that helps
