Klonopin to help prevent seizures?

Thu, 05/18/2006 - 08:42
I get seizures due to hormonal fluctuations once a month. They happen before, during or after my period. I'm taking 350mg of Lamictal twice a day and still they occur. The doctor just advised a quarter to a hal mg. of klonopin nightly in the evening of my 'danger days' Klonopin puts me to sleep, I don't know why anyone would want to use this drug for recreation! Anyway, does anyone have any experience with konopin and seizure meds? Hope so! Nancy B. (Meskerkid)

OK, I'm on my way to the doctor, I want some of that cream! The other night I got up around god knows when, because I had to get a tee shirt. There I go into the dresser, slamming drawers which woke my husband up of course. "What are you doing?" I have to get a tee shirt, I'm boiling. went back to sleep and woke up freezing! Don't you just love waking up and all the sheets are wet? I've been wearing very loose capri length pajama pants. I never wore pajamas. I like a tee shir so I can feel the soft sheets with my legs. Now I can do that if it's the afternoon or the late morning. IF I'm tired. Will I ever be able to wear a tee shirt again?! Lots of women have told me it can last ten years! What a body. I'm going to get the cream. Hey, do you know about hormone leveling meds? I'm curious about them. Anybody? Nancy B.

Nancy I hate to say this but many of the doctors dont know anything about it. Plus if they do hand you something it is a pill form which is a synthetic which can cause other problems. But there are certain meds that you could be taking, making your hormones worse too. Look into a compound pharmacist. Ask at your obgyn. I use a micronized natural cream and it is USP(wild yam) it says progesterone in the beginning of the ingredient. There can be a number of triggers too, anxiety, stress, meds,.... but ask your doctors about it. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
