Weight

Does anyone have problems with their weight due to certain medications they are taking for epilepsy?I have reached an all time high with my weight and my neurologist says my medication contributes to it. I am taking Diamox 500mg twice daily, Lamictal 200mg twice daily, Zanaflex 4mg at night and hormones (Premarin 2.50 mg once daily) due to having a hysterectomy.I thought medications like Diamox were supposed to help with weight loss...maybe the combinations of medications might throw that idea out the window??I move around a lot...I have to because I look after my mother 24/7 because she can barely walk anymore. I don't think it's lack of exercise.I've got to lose weight...anyone have any ideas on that also? Thanks all.

My Depakote made me gain weight horribly and when I dropped that pill and stayed on the Topamax alone I lost 10lbs the first week...

When I started taking Topamax I was so happy. My neurologist said that it aids in weight loss....well, I lost about 15 lbs then stayed where I was. In my late teens I was put on Depakote, I started out taking 200 mg. Each time I had a seizure my neuro would up the dose. By the time I was taken off of it I was taking 2500 mg a day and I was huge. I still am and am having a really rough time trying to lose it.I was recently taken off Topamax, and have gained weight. I don't know if the Topamax was what was kind of keeping me at my steady weight or what, but I have gained 13 pounds in 2 months and haven't changed eating habits at all. I'm still moving around quite alot taking care of my mother. And I also had a neuro tell me, "Just push away from the table!" I couldn't believe that. I don't sit and gorge myself at any meal and as a matter of fact don't eat much because it makes me sick if I do. When I told him that he said, "I don't believe that. You wouldn't be so big if you didn't eat so much."Gonna have to slap some of these doctors one of these days! lolTake care all...
