I just had the WADA Test, now I am for the next step.

Mon, 07/07/2008 - 21:08

Hi.

My name is Anna, and I  have had Complex-partial seziures for the last 3 years with no known cause.  I am a 26 year old woman who has been and continues to be in general good health. I had my first seizure (a grand mal w/ very severe convulsions) in August of 05 after I turned 24. Since then, I amon 3 different anti-convulsants (Lamictal 500mg, Phenytoin, 500mg, and Keppra 2000mg daily) as well as 1mg  of Folic Acid daily.  I have not had confulsions since November 2007, but i  continue to wake up once a month with my lip bitten and chewed right before my period. I have been on the list for possible surgery at my local hospital for a year,  and have just had the WADA Test on June 20, 2008. I saw my neurologist and his attending on July 3, 2008, and they are now trying to set up a date that they can have  a conference with him, the eptoligist, the neuropsychiatrists, and the neurosurgeon, to determine whether or not my surgey can be done. I would like to have the procedure done and would like to know if anybody has had the WADA done about how long and  what they were told when the doctor's and you or your loved oe made thier decisions. Any information wouls be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Pat,

Well I wish you all the best with your testing. My surgery is only 2 days away on Election Day, so I am doing laundry and figuring out what I want to take with me.  Its been  a very long year so I am getting very excited. I will let you know how things went when I get home at the end of the week! My E-mail is ahardway81@msn.com.

Good Luck!

Anna

Hi POH! I know I saw you in the chat room last night, so I am sure you know how happy I am about my success so far. Once again Yesterday, December 4th made it one month after my successful surgery. I am doing so well and Things look so great! Of course the scar can go away which would be cool! LOL My hair has been growing back  so fast from where they shaved that small bald spot that it is cool. When i want to see the neurosurgeon to get my stitches out I was told how well i did and how ssuccessful I should be. I see my regular neurologist for a regular check up for the 1st time since my surgery so i bet he will be excited! I have been told that I am his 1st patient to have it done, and with him being a resident doctor and only my age it makes a big deal to him as well! Like i said things are great so far for me and even all of those doctors that I have seen have told me how perfect of a canditate I was and now I think that they are going to be right! By this time next year I will be great and can start driving again and actually get married!

My daughter had Left temp. lobe surgery in March 08 She had all the tests done and was an excellent candidate for surgery. She did so well! It has changed her life for the better. In fact, this weekend she drove herself to work for the first time in over 3 years. She had her surgery at OSU medical and had the best care you can imagine. I would highly recommend their program. She is like a different person now. Good luck. I hope you do as well as she did.
