Wada test recovery?

Mon, 08/21/2006 - 19:10
Just checking, I had the test done last week and the bruising is getting worse as is the swelling. Also have a smallish lump at the cathater site. Has anyone else here experienced this following their test? My leg feels fine, no numbness but the site where the procedure was done really hurts and I was just wondering what sort of time frame is realistic for me to consider myself healed. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks! M

Yeah it is normal for the site where they went in to hurt. I had mine done a few days ago and it really hurt and I couldn't walk on it for a day or so. It should begin to heal almost immediately honestly. You will see a spot where they poked you for a while, but it should stop bleeding and begin to recover about 24 hours after you had it done.

I have read of the pain some

I have read of the pain some have often, so thanks to others I realize I was lucky. I had my Wada done last fall and it was completely painless. Hi forestams, In Canada the Wada is only given if the neuro-psychologist recommends it subsequent to the pre-surgery neuro-psych testing. As I needed surgery on my left temporal lobe, it was decided that I'd do the Wada to see if language had been picked up by the right side. (It's common for one side of the brain to take over the duties of another if epilepsy starts in early childhood). I had surgery last January; and (so far) since then a normal EEG and no seizures. ~sol

I am glad to finally hear something positive about this test. I have been very nervous. I am being scheduled to go in soon for my WADA test (I am just waiting for the doctor's office to call me back) and will go in probably around February for my LTL temporal surgery too (my seizures also started at an early age, I am now in my mid 40's). Thanks Sol Dawn ;-)
