no periods with Trileptal?

Sat, 09/02/2006 - 20:08
Hi - For about the past five months or so, I have basically had no period when it was time. I've taken a pregnancy test and that is not the reason. My meds have changed around some but I have consistently been on 900-1200mg of Trileptal a day. Has this affected anyone else? I have had a particularly stressful spring and summer so I know that this could be a cause also. Thanks for any input.

Not me! I have my periods just fine and have been on 1200MG trileptal/day. I know if you're below body weight (severly below) you could stop having periods...so many reasons. I would take it pretty seriously and contact my gyno immediately. Good luck finding out.

Hi Winston, I too am on Trileptal for the last 7 or 8 years. I have not had any problems with regard to my period with trileptal.I am currently on 750mg in the morning and 900mg at night. Previously I was on Tegretal and I have been told that Trileptal is an upgraded version of Tegretal. The only problem I would experience would be having a lot of attacks around time of period. Nothing else. Having said that I know strees and anxiety is a big factor with causing attacks so try and stay as stress free as possible.I am not sure if it would cause you to not have periods though. I did yoga for a couple of months and this really helped an awlful lot. Take Care, Raid.
