Topamax

Sun, 09/10/2006 - 06:02

I've been taking different meds for seizures since I had E, but someone has put to my attention Topamax. Says that it's better and it helps you to lose weight. Is that true? How good is this drug? What are the side effects? If anyone here has taken Topamax please let me know what you think of the drug. Thanks :-)

I have been on Topamax for a couple months and have lost about 10 pounds and I like it! I hope I don't start having any problems with kidney stones or speech problems but so far so good. I also take Lamictal. I was on Keppra but that didn't work that well and when the doctor increased my dose it made me insane. Every med is different for each person. If you generally tolerate the side effects of meds well I would give it a try. Good luck!

ragin 6, I took lamictal before.., but you know for the life of me I can't remember how I did on that drug. I hope that Topamax works for me. If you haven't had kidney stones yet then it's a good sign :-) Seizuregirl "Life is what you make of it"

While on Topamax, you never had the side effect of kidney stones at all? That was my main concern. My doctor told me not to worry about that and not to let it deter me from taking this drug. I'm going to try it and hopefully I won't get any kidney stones from taking it. Thanks for your input :-) Seizuregirl "Life is what you make of it"
