Hi ceder,

My son took Lamictal and went beserk on it. Extremely violent and had to stop. He is on Trileptol now (Depakote and Topiramax) and it has made him very ill. We finally worked out for him not to be so ill by lessening his medication on the third day. However, he is still having seizures at a regular rate.

We have been dealing with different medications his whole life - he is 23 now - and the doctor is considering trying the Vegus Nerve Stimulator.

Are you or anyone ese out there aware of "forced normalcy" emotional upsets? Because he may not be having seizures the doctor feels he may need anti-psychotic meds so he he doesn't get violent again. It would seem his brain needs the seizures to release the buildup of stress.

Has ayone else had this problem and did it resolve itself?

Anne

Trileptal causes low sodium. If it gets too low it will cause seizures. Keep up with the sodium intake. I get blood work every two weeks. I also keep gatorade in the house to drink when I get auras for I know I am low. Or just eat soup. Yes I know what you mean it releases the stress. But there are other ways. Exercise, yoga, diaphragmatic breathing which accually helps with seizures, massages.http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/EpilepsyApproach/Lisa
