Hi Diane -

Thanks for keeping me updated!  So far, I have only had the VEEG  and MRI done.  My first neuro had me on so many different meds, that my new epileptologist wants to try some "clinically controlled" medication trials.  So far, I'm on my 2nd set of meds with her.  She did find mesial temporal sclerosis on both sides, but mainly the right side.  She said after the 3rd trial of meds, we would begin testing for the surgery.  I think the WADA will be very interesting too.  I'm just worried I'll "pop off" and say something I shouldn't ....LOL!

I'm weaning off of Lamictal right now...got the rash, and still having seizures.  Starting on Keppra, and have been mean as a rattlesnake for a couple of days!!

My hubby was pretty worried about surgery too.  The epileptologist pretty much calmed both of our fears, but it's still a strange feeling  to think of having surgery on your brain!  My kids keep saying that they're glad I now have proof that I have a brain....they'd been wondering...ha ha!

3DAYS?  You've got to be kidding me!  That's awesome!  Did they say how long the recovery would be?

Keep me posted!  I'm glad to hear things are going well, and my prayers are with you!

hi diane,

my son, 15 yrs, had his left temporal lobe surgery last december here in indonesia (only one doctor could perform such surgery in indonesia, even in spore we couldnt find one). we did all the mri, video eeg and pet scan in spore tho.

he woke up soon he came out of the operation room. the surgery took about 7-8 hrs... he could be released 3 days after the surgery ... i got all his pictures if you are interested, including the scar tissue ..*grin*.. he could play his piano soon he got home and seemed that his memory is improving a lot after the operation.

he's doing really fine after the operation, hopefully will be seizure free for the rest of his life (fingers crossed).

our prayers will be with you

I had a craniotomy due to a brain aneurysm. I had to have the surgery to save my life, but I tell you this, I hope I never, ever have anyone inside my brain again! I don't know if things will be the same for all brain surgeries, but somehow I think it could be. I was in a coma. When I started coming out of it, I did not who I was. This lasted for days. I did not my family, I did not know how to feed myself, I did not where I lived, how to walk, how to brush my teeth, and I had asphasia. It has been two years and I still get mixed up talking. And if you check my posts here, you can see I have trouble writing, at times. If there is any way you can avoid having any of these problems, please try another route.
