Dear Diana,

I find it most criminal, and non therapeutic, that your doctor wants to make your epilepsy worst with a right temporal lobectomy.  I was subjected to

a left and right temporal lobectomy in 1969 anmd 1972, without informed consent nor parental knowlewdge.  Did you know that temporal lobectomy is nice word for lobotomy?    Definition of psychosurgery means BY direct or indirect access to the brain, removes or destroys healthy brain tissue, in order to alter behavior.

Thing is, when healthy good brain tissue is removed from a human subject, this causes further scar tissue, which results in greater epileptic convulsive disorder,

cerebral hemmorrahaging, and status epilepticus. Mind you, every year in Canada, 2400-4600 people die as a result of status epilepticus.

Most people I know who have been sucked into this criminal assault, are dead or on high dosages of non-therapeutic pharmaceuticals.

How come your doctor is not exersizing all remedies before surgery?

Marijuana has proven to be extremely effective for seizure disorder, and should not be undermined, when safer than lobectomy.

If lobectomy is so helpful for seizures, why did I suffer status epilepticus in the Intensive Care Unit, right after this operation, in 1969?

I feel you are being exploited, and subject to criminal assault.

My life has been 100% hell after these lobectomies in 1969 and 1972.

I no longer trust doctors, when exersizing criminal assault upon thier patient.

If you want a life of increase and variation in seizures, status epilepticus, cerebral hemmorrahaging, and bad drugs for bad operations, go ahead,

chop out your healthy good brain tissue.  Is this what you really want?

I hope not. I think it is a crying shame that persons with epilepsy are being

subjected to misrepresentation and non-therapeutic experimentation for the sake of money.

Straight up, I would investigate ALL rememedies, before allowing someone

to chop away my healthy anatomy.     Your doctor is NOT in acting for your best interest, when subjecting you to non-therapeutic psychosurgical procedure.

Do yourself a favour, and say NO to lobectomy. As a victim of unauthorized lobectomy, may I assure you, that lobectomy is nothing more than criminal

assault and battery.

Highly suggest, that you check out some marijuana in natural state form, and NOT the pharmaceutical garbage such as THC delta nine, or any other name they put on it.

Since Judge Patrick Sheppard's 1997 decision striking down our marijuana laws as unconstitutional, I have only suffered one seizure. This is quite significant, when compared to 5-80 seizures a day, prior to Sheppard's decision.

One would think, that if lobectomy is a cure all, why have I spent 25 years to legalize a herb, that is 90% effective for blocking seizures?

In ending, I would encourage you not to be victimized such as myself, since you will indeed regret it very very much, afterwards.

Yours,

Dear Terry-

Please remember that medicine is much more advanced than it was over a quarter century ago.  I am sorry for your bad luck, however, I do find it a bit disturbing that you wouldn't hope or wish for the best of another human being suffering from seizures.   I am ten times better than I was nine years ago, and my life has improved ten fold.  I am not sure if I just have better health-care than you, or if perhaps my life was not as sheltered and I am much more open-minded.  I too would like to have a family, and perhaps children.  I don't feel I can do this safely without the directions of my doctors, surgeons, and my peers. (I work on the EMU floor at Mayo Hospital with seizure patients)

I hope that you and your doctors have discussed smoking a joint and agree that that is no resolution.  I do wish you the best of luck, and hope for you better health in the future.  Take care of yourself.

Amiee, I would have to agree with you. Especially concerning the marijuana. After reading one of Terry's posts, I asked my doctor about it and even told him that in addition to the marijuana that Terry was taking Phenobarbital (which he stated in one of his previous posts). My neuro had a little discussion with me and said that the Pheno was probably what was controlling the seizures but the marijuana just made him feel better about it. LOLHe also went on to say that marijuana studies have shown that more seizures are caused from it.I'm far from a professional on this subject, and I only know what my neuro tells me. I, myself, don't think I would risk it. But that's just me.Best of luck to all.
