lamictal for complex partial seizures

Thu, 05/12/2005 - 14:26
Dr. just suggested me to switch from trileptal to lamictal after 2 months of trial on trileptal, which seems doesn't work for me. Does anyone have well control of complex partial seizures using lamictal? Thanks.

Hi morning,

what happened?  I also hate seeing him on the Topamax too because that stuff is also heavy duty.  I had to take it for migrains and went off because I was so tired and also confussed at times.  I couldn't even go up to the  200 mg that the doctor wanted me to take and Shawn takes twice that amount.  I don't know anything additional about the  Neurontin.  He seems to have no side effects.

Thanks

Penny

Hi Penny,

I was reading the strings on this subject and notice your reply with Neurontin. My husband has been on Neurontin for a year and does show several side effects. He does not speak and does have severe brain damage. As far as the side effects I notice he is drooling alot, maybe this medicine is having him forgetting to swallow? Also does get aggitated. Can you tell me your experience on Neurontin? This may help me to determine what you have been experiencing. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

Alina Higgins

Hi,

I have been taking 300mg of Lamictal and 2400 mg of Neurontin for complex partial seizures since March 5, 2005.  So far, I have not had another seizure although my 24 hour EEG showed sharp waves.  This means that my brain has activity that inidcates that there is a potential for seizure,  I have not noticed any horrible side effects lately.  However, I did get chills for the first few days as they dosage was risining from 150 mg to 300mg.  There is a rumor that Nuerontin causes weight gain.   I am not sure.
