lamictal for complex partial seizures

Thu, 05/12/2005 - 14:26
Dr. just suggested me to switch from trileptal to lamictal after 2 months of trial on trileptal, which seems doesn't work for me. Does anyone have well control of complex partial seizures using lamictal? Thanks.

Hello. My name is Tessa. I am 19 years old. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 11. I have taken many different meds for my seizures. I just got taken off Lamictal. It didn't work for me, at all. Lamictal is very chalky and it melts right when I put it in my mouth. It tasted horrible! I now take a medication called, topamax.  My new meds are working great now and I haven't had a seizure in 4 or 5 months. I am doing great, considering I used to have at least 4 grand mal seizures a day. email me if you have more questions.

Hey SeizureQueen.

How much lamictal were you on? I have grand mal seizures. I was free of them for a year and a half, then in the last 6 weeks i've had 3. Dissapointment, but as you probably know you just have to get on with things. I'm on 200mg lamictol, cos of recent attacks i've been told to double it. I hate the way it crumbles in the mouth, sometimes i end up spitting it out cos its so nasty.

Happy Days

Bec. x i am sorry to hear you broke through at 200mgs. i know you must be dissappointed. when i take lamictal, i take the water in my mouth, put my head back and drop the pill in. the very second it hits the back of my throat i swallow. it is a very nasty, lingering taste if it beging to dissolve in your mouth. are you getting enough uninterrupted sleep? do you have enough fat in your diet? for me these can be factors in my delicate balance. stay positive krissyb
