pregnancy and keppra

Tue, 12/27/2005 - 13:01
Hello everyone I am 28 years old, female, with JME. My doctor has switched me from Depakote to Lamictal and now Keppra. I take Keppra 1000mg a day. Is there anyone, who is on Keppra, who is pregnant or who has had a baby. There is a ton of information of Lamictal and pregnancy but not much of Keppra and pregnancy. My husband and I want to start planning for a family, but we are VERY nervous. My ob/gyn put me on a prenatal vitamin and extra folic acid. I would appreciate any information from anyone. -aspepath

Hi there. I am 24 and have been on lamictal and keppra combined for about 2years now. i swear by the both drugs together. i am taking 750mg of keppra twicw a day and 200mg of lamictal twice a day. i have recently found out i am pregnant and my partner and i are over joyed as was told i would have great difficulties falling pregnant again due to the fact i have polycystic ovaries. i haven't been for my scan yet so i cant say for definate that i haven't any problems to face. however, i already have a 5year old daughter who i fell pregnant with whilst taking carbamazapine and she is the most perfect little girl you could ever choose to meet. but one way i like to look at this situation is, the percentages for having a child with problems when on keppra and lamictal are very small, as are the percentages of having a child whilst being drug free. try not to let your condition worry you so much it steers you away from starting your own family. Keep smiling Laura :-)

Hi everyone, I wanted to know if anyone out there had a healthy baby on Keppra? I am currently at 14 weeks and on 2000mg of Keppra and 120 mg of phenobarb per day. Basically, my ob/gyn is scaring the crap out of me because he is sending me for all of this additional testing (an anotomical scan ultrasound and then a f/u growth scan ultrasound-even though he says everything looks "normal" and my genetic testing was "normal" and making me see him every two weeks-did or does anyone else have to go to the doctor that often? I would greatly appreciate someone putting my mind at ease! -Jennifer
