pregnancy and keppra

Hello everyone
I am 28 years old, female, with JME. My doctor has switched me from Depakote to Lamictal and now Keppra. I take Keppra 1000mg a day. Is there anyone, who is on Keppra, who is pregnant or who has had a baby. There is a ton of information of Lamictal and pregnancy but not much of Keppra and pregnancy. My husband and I want to start planning for a family, but we are VERY nervous. My ob/gyn put me on a prenatal vitamin and extra folic acid. I would appreciate any information from anyone.

I was on 1000mg of keppra twice a day during my first pregnancy and everything turned out just fine. My son is now almost 4 and perfectly healthy. When I asked my doctors about the effects and they informed me the risks of seizures were more severe than the medicine. I did not breastfeed with him so I am not sure about that. I am now 10 weeks pregnant and on the same dose now. Hope this was helpful!

Hey I'm on keppra 1000mg a day. my pregnancy went really well and I didn't have any problem at all I'm was also on extra folic acid and a vitamin tablet my son's now 1 year old and has doing great

Hi everyone, I am really glad that I found this site and that there is a way that I can hear other people's stories and get some advise. I just started taking Keppra about 3 months ago as an add on drug, before then I was just on Lamictal for about 6 yrs. I have had 2 beautiful children while on Lamictal ( 100% healthy, smart and wonderful). But now I am faced with an ultimatum, I am still having seizures and although they have added Keppra, I am having them (not often but still having them). My neuro wants me to consider trying something else. The problem with that is that lamictal and keppra are pretty much the safest for pregnancy, her nor I want to risk me getting pragnant on some thing else. So, she is saying that before she changes me she wants me to tie my tubes. Being faced with a now or never situation makes me realize that I really do want another baby. I don't know if I am (like the saying goes) pushing the envelope. So, I am looking at all my choices and one was that since I have never been pregnant on keppra, is it even safe. I guess I just need advise from those people that have or haven't had successful pregnancys on Keppra. Thanks, here is my e-mail, because I am kinda in a sooner rather than later situation.
