pregnancy and keppra

Hello everyone
I am 28 years old, female, with JME. My doctor has switched me from Depakote to Lamictal and now Keppra. I take Keppra 1000mg a day. Is there anyone, who is on Keppra, who is pregnant or who has had a baby. There is a ton of information of Lamictal and pregnancy but not much of Keppra and pregnancy. My husband and I want to start planning for a family, but we are VERY nervous. My ob/gyn put me on a prenatal vitamin and extra folic acid. I would appreciate any information from anyone.

I took keppra (1000 mg twice a day with 1mg folic acid twice a day). The pregnancy progressed well and the baby did not have any birth defects. I had two doctors, my ob/gyn and a high risk pregnancy doctor. So definitely a lot of visiits but in the end everything worked out. I was on carbatrol before and switched to Keppra while pregnant.

Hi i am 25yrs old now having a cute boy baby. I got first seizure at the age of 21.My husband knows that i had seizure before marriage and he accepted me. got married in 2010.Yearly once i am having seizure.I'm taking keppra two 500mg morning and two 500mg in night.Totally 2000mg a day.After marriage we didn't planned for baby for 1 year as i was so feared like u since i am in medication. But after 1 year i got pregnant. We consulted gynecologist said about my medication. So started with foilc acid before pregnancy.
No problem dont fear keppra not at all affect baby. Even during pregnancy i had mild seizure but baby condition was good by god's grace.Finally we were blessed with boy baby that too normal delivery.My gynecologist supported me lot.Keppra=No problems during pregnancy.Now i am feeding my baby that also no problem. But dont feed baby imeediately after taking tablet.Because dosage will be reduced in our body and there is chance of getting seizure.

Hello, I realise that this is an old conversation but I am now in the same situation as many of you who have commented here. I am on 1000mg of keppra and have been told it is safe for me to get pregnant and breastfeed. I've read lots of posts from women who are taking keppra whilst pregnant and are worried, but not many of the actual outcome after their babies have been born and how they are developing throughout childhood. I am VERY interested in how everything went with your babies after taking keppra, some of which must be a few years old by now.
Hope some of you are still around, I'm very worried about the effect of keppra on my child and it's nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks.
