My epi - complex/partial - is 99% controlled by 200mg Lamotrigine (Lamictal). I dare not say 100% since that would be tempting fate.... It is often a matter of luck whether or not a particular drug is effective for an individual even if diagnosis suggests the use of a particular drug or drugs.

My daughter (9) was switched from Depakote to Lamictal a few months ago for complex partials. She's doing very well on it, and doesn't seem as tired as when she was on Depakote. I can only tell you what I observe going on with her....
Good luck with your switch! Veronica
